Responsible tourism

Accessibility & emissions

We want visitors to have the information they need to plan with confidence. Here is how we consider access needs and our environmental impact, with links to our independent public reports.

Plan your visit

Accessibility

Burnside Bikes is a delivery-based service rather than a customer shopfront. We deliver to your accommodation or another agreed location, fit your bike at handover and collect it when your hire is complete.

  • Bookings and enquiries are available online, by phone and by email.
  • Our online booking information is designed to support screen readers and clear, high-contrast form controls.
  • Plain-English information is available for people with cognitive access needs.
  • Our team has undertaken disability awareness training.

Measure, reduce, improve

Emissions reduction

We use Carbonhalo to measure our operational carbon footprint and record practical reduction actions. Our public dashboard shows our latest measurement, progress and methodology.

  • We measure operational emissions from business fuels and purchased electricity.
  • We source parts and consumables from local suppliers where suitable products are available.
  • We encourage staff to commute using bikes from our fleet.
  • We are moving office and workshop consumables to greener alternatives where available.

Tell us what you need

Access requirements differ from person to person. Contact us before booking and we can talk through the bikes, equipment, delivery and handover arrangements. If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our website, please let us know so we can assist and improve it.

The assessment reports are maintained by third-party platforms and open in a new tab.
